Douglas Hall

Douglas Hall is part of a three-building cluster on the East campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). This three-story, 25,200 s.f. reinforced concrete structure houses the new UIC College of Business Administration (CBA).

The renovation of this facility entailed the gutting of the entire structure and removal of the precast concrete and glass envelope, as well as the roof. The completed project accommodates administrative and other support functions on the first floor, with materials and finishes that reflect a corporate business environment, including a raised-floor trading room.

The second and third floors house 75-person lecture rooms, 48-person classrooms, hubs, meeting rooms and other spaces that complement CBA’s program requirements. Finishes for these floors are more conducive to both formal and informal learning environments. The facility features state-of-the-art technology that facilitates long-distance learning and supports its featured trading room.

The renovated Douglas Hall is targeted to receive a USGBC LEED Gold rating for New Construction. The Architects Enterprise, Ltd. also received an award for Excellent Delivery of Service for the design and construction of this important project.
